As I sit here, waiting for the caffeine of a bottle of Coke + a can of Mother mixed into one divine beverage to hit me, I gnaw on a snickers wonder where to exactly to begin this final evening to finish this assignment... oh and the 1 in 6 snickers wins a free one is a rhort, I've bought 11 and still nothing...
Alright, I think the caffeine, taurine and what other urine is in those energy drinks has caught up to me =D
Now where did I leave off...
Oh yeah and I had an extra week to do this assignment -_-; so I could have gone out last weekend...
Alright, lets start this session with a couple of expectations of an Environmental 2.0 site...
I would expect it to place a great deal of emphasis on the calendar or donating your time, so an events calendar would be a big focus on the main page, but a second calendar, a user based calendar, one where members could set up their own local events would be a massive 2.0 feature and would cause the site members to become a close knit group.
Other features would include; Event photo submission, Chat/discussion section for any upcoming events, A way for members to post related news articles (moderated of course), a way to track how much you have donated, or find out how your donations have been spent.

Sigh
Time to get analysing I guess... Hey Phil, I better at least pass this cause I've given up a lot tonight to work on this
*would rather be elsewhere on a saturday night*
*opens Greening Australia page in contempt*
Alright... So the biggest thing I noticed is that I can't log in, or subscribe to anything. So that is the first thing that could be improved (though my expectations of a 2.0 site may be a little high), just under the menu bar is a drop down area that expands into a site map, very nice addition.
There is an area of interests section at the bottom, though I haven't seen it update since I first stumbled across the site, if this was updated and modified by site traffic it would be a good 2.0 feature.
After accessing their about us page I found a newsletter to subscibe to... maybe there was one on the front page and I didn't notice it. Flipping between different pages it would nice if each page in their about section wasn't a new page/link, but an field that updated when clicked on.
Maybe I have been on twitter, the applestore and other pages that load fields not pages when things are clicked on...
Whoa... just went to check the homepage for a subscribe thing and noticed how horrible the menu buttons roll over.
Oh yep there it is, the subscribe link is some little green text in a green box...
Maybe the community tab will prove promising- It seems as if it is just a re-iteration of the latest news, which is filterable by which state you live in. Though there is a calandar link to the side, the callendar is nice, but would be if events in your region stood out a little more...
This is enough Analysing to get started on the e-magazine thing.

Getting Started
Alright, lets get this party started.
Ok. Firstly to define what I believe is Web 2.0...
I see Web 2.0 as a move away from a static webpages - webpages that display information and allow no or very little interaction. So I see a Web 2.0 site mainly as a site that you can log into, and once logged in it would automatically find anything new on that site that might interest you.
Besides a login feature, the site would consist of different ways to navigate through the site by providing links that might interest you, and shows what is popular amoungst the others currently on the site.
In addition it might provide a way to contribute to the site, like commenting on something, or attaching pictures or links to relevant information even if it isn't yours.
I don't know, thats just how I see it.
As far as this relating to a charity site much like the one I have to analyse, the site would probably have the whole log in feature, and people would be able to add information to the articles or content, not to the direct content, but like a discussion area where people could edit and add to a copy of the original. So there would be two versions, for people to view and/or contribute to.
I don't know, my definition of what 2.0 will probably change as I get further into this assignment but we will have to see...
But I have to leave for work... so you will have to check back tonight for more info... though I might actually get into this report and stop worrying about this blog =/ we'll have to see

An update
Yeah, so after another class, apparently I can't do the social issue of bad hair... but thats alright, kind of expected it, anyway, anyone who frequents this blog (lol as if) might have noticed I have changed my layout.
It has been set out to look similar to the Greening Australia page, which is now the charity/social/environmental site I am going to analyze. If you want a link to compare it there are two just to the right. <- (lol did you look to the left like the arrow points xD)
Anyway, I'll start analysing the site later, I'm a bit tired right now, and really can't be bothered... but just thought I should let my one follower know... what he already knows cause he is in my class.
If you are reading this... Comment this blog, comment anything part of the whole assignment is to have some comments, so I don't care if your comment is "Purple is a colour next to Blue on the colour wheel" just comment =P

Web 2.0
Alright... the way I see this assignment thing, I probably need to work out what Web 2.0 actually means, cause at the moment, I don't really know. *hits up Google define:*
Which clears things up a little which is nice. Well, I was thinking about a website to do this morning in the shower, well not so much trying to think of a website, but one sort of hit me when I reached for my shampoo bottle...
Fudge.
The problem I now face, after explaining the wonderments of this website which I believe to be 2.0 to Ned is that it isn't really a social or environmental issue...
But I don't really consider myself conservative when it comes to assessment guidelines... Usually push my luck and end up loosing a couple of marks, lol but I don't really mind.
So if anyone asks about the social issue, they are asking about bad hair (look even the site has a whole section on the issue of bad hair) and I guess I could play into the whole "not testing on animals" thing which I could also play on to take focus off the environmental issue.
anyway, now apparently I have to set my blog up to look similar to their website... So I had better do that.
Web 2.0– Really more of a marketing term than a technical one, “Web 2.0″ refers to applications that allow direct interaction between a website visitor and the site. This is a departure from “traditional” web sites that simply allowed visitors to read static content and not post questions or interact with the site in any way. That is probably the best explanation I can find...

My First Blog Ever...
Well... I never thought I would ever really need a blog... ever... but apparently I need one for my e-media course at uni, so its not cruel if this blog gets neglected because I never truly wanted it in the first place...
Though it is giving Fire-Fox's Spell Checker a good run.
Err... anyway, as I said earlier this is really just a place for this e-media thing so I guess I should probably explain what that is about, a short description is that I have to find a Web 2.0 site, an actual one, not one that is only pretending to be 2.0 and explain its details or something. Doesn't seem too interesting yet... but then again I don't really know what a Web 2.0 website is... So I should probably start there =\
I'm more of a Micro-Blogger personally, twitter and the like... so... yeah... I'm-a gonna go now.
